County Court Record Search
County court record searches are available in over 3,100 counties across the U.S. and can reveal potential criminal records history. They include felony and misdemeanor convictions, as well as pending cases – typically from the past seven years. Search jurisdictions are provided by the candidate or use one of our options to help expand the scope of your criminal background checks for employment.
Federal Court Record Search
The federal court record search identifies U.S. criminal records from federal crimes prosecuted in the federal district courts. It includes convictions and pending cases for charges such as international/inter-state drug trafficking, kidnapping, and other federal-level crimes.
Global Sanctions Search
The Global Sanctions Search looks for restriction, sanction and exclusion records maintained by U.S. and international legal and regulatory enforcement organizations and public sources. Data sources are subject to availability and applicable reporting restrictions.
National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) Search
First Advantage searches through the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), which includes registered sex offenders in 49 States, U.S. territories, the District of Columbia, and participating Indigenous tribes. State reporting restrictions may limit reporting or use of sex offender records in some jurisdictions.
Statewide Criminal Record Search
A statewide criminal record search that, if available, checks an entire state’s repository of criminal records. Some states may not have this available, and the composition of the data may vary from state to state. It can be a cost-effective way to search for county criminal record information in a state. Coverage may vary by state and may be subject to other state reporting restrictions and requirements.

Social Security Number (SSN) Verification
First Advantage offers a service that identifies names and addresses associated with a person’s social security number as reported by creditors and furnishers. These results expand the criminal background check to include county searches based on addresses (and names, if requested) beyond what the candidate has disclosed. Additionally, developed names or aliases can be identified upon request.
Nationwide Criminal File Database Check
Using our proprietary Nationwide Criminal File database, we check for criminal records in additional locations that may not be linked to the candidate’s prior work or residential addresses.
