Tax Alert: Newly Finalized Spending Bill Would Extend WOTC for Five Years

The spending bill that is being voted on in Congress in the coming hours contains extensions of important federal tax incentive programs, including five-year extensions of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program and the Federal Empowerment zones program (FEZ).

The Indian Employment Credit (IEC) would be extended for one year, and Disaster Relief Employee Retention Tax Credits would become available for employers in eligible disaster zones for all of 2020 and through 60-days post enactment of this bill.

The bill is anticipated to pass both chambers, be signed by the President, and become law very soon.

The extensions of these programs is a huge victory for our clients and the important programs that they rely on, and we look forward to continuing to partner with you to ensure that you are utilizing all available tax credit programs.
